The value of always being early has a great advantage to me but more so in this one occasion. I had been invited for a power breakfast meeting by KAWBO and true to form I was there thirty minutes in early. The organizers were just setting up and I got a chance to pick her brain on various issues in our similar organizational goals. As the guests started to arrive we moved in for breakfast and I got a chance to sit with three brilliant ladies from various industries. We had a very stimulating conversation on SMEs in Kenya and what it means to be one. Key on the agenda was how the various institutions; government, banks etc classify SMEs. It is according to the number of employees, revenue turnover or other criteria and what came out clearly is the need to come up with a clear cut definition for SMEs to streamline a lot of the process that these business owner to go through.
