Working at Kuza Biashara

It all started off on August 25, 2011, when I received a call from a person who worked for Safaricom Limited at Meru Retail Shop. I was then in a matatu on my way to Nanyuki for a family function, and this call really left me in a state of confusion. Well, the job description was a bit not appealing since it would only take a week. The most complicated part was that I was supposed to be in Meru in 30 mins time. Now that I was almost arriving in Nanyuki I didn’t know what to tell the person on line. Should I tell him I was far from town, it would mean that I would automatically lose the chance. Again, the job would only take a few days. I took time and listened to my conscience and felt the urge to go for it. I told him that I would take 1 hour and 20 minutes since commuting back would take an hour. He agreed and that is how I got connected to Florence Mbatia from Kuza Biashara.

I really thank her for the patience. She waited till I arrived, she then took me through the product that I was supposed to engage in the market, and frankly speaking I liked the product and after the interview she told me that I was the right person for the job. I couldn’t control my joy when she said I had already secured the job . We were to hook up the next day, go to the field and sign up clients for Zidisha. It was really successful as we got two sales on the first day. It has been a long journey full of challenges and I felt like I would give up but I thank her for mentoring me and she kept on telling me that something good was on the way. Her words were true and I got promoted after six months from an IBC to a district manager. I owe her my success at Kuza Biashara.

After the promotion I was to report to a different manager – Kamau Mugure, who has really motivated me . He is the kind of person who lets you take control of everything and he keeps on reminding me that I am the boss. Kamau Mugure has nurtured me this far. I am passionate about marketing and this makes me love Kuza Biashara more, for through this company I have interacted with people of all walks of life and this has improved my social life.

It is almost one year now. I enjoy being at Kuza Biashara. I am now looking forward to turn around things in my region and move to the next level. I have learned that patience truly pays.
