To succeed, do the things that others don’t

Untitled-137

Success is not a situation; success is a state of mind.

If you had one opportunity to cease everything that you can have in one moment, what would you do? That’s the easy part because it’s not a fact, its fiction. It’s wishful thinking. It’s the shorter route. It’s everything that does not need one to plough in requisite thought processes, resources and or energy and to its detriment, and when it comes it goes away just as fast.

The gap between the ‘’haves and the have not’s’ is age-old, wide ranging and is getting even more sophisticated not only in Kenya but world over. More often than not, an ordinary person becomes rich because of a certain level of thought process. However not all successful people and success stories are a result of a particular thought process or strategy. One’s wealth is sometimes the outcome of exploitation of facets of service or products that are seldom explored but existing.

With the majority of the Kenyan Citizenry being anywhere from middle class and less, it goes without saying that the business establishments are small or medium sized. Nonetheless, they grow into enterprises. But some do not make it past the ‘toddler’ phase. This is because of divergent issues. The chief reason is lack of a clear understanding of what it entails to succeed in business and any other field.

A successful person is clearly distinct from one who is not. Some of the things that identify a successful person are:

The spending trend

A successful person focuses on savings rather than expenditure and limits his expenses to the bare minimum.

Investment

A successful person re-invests the proceeds from his venture to his enterprise rather than spending the proceeds on other non-business related matters.

An eye for opportunity

A successful person understands the area(s) unto which he or she operates. This gives him or her, a niche for being able to strategically tackle any challenges.

Continuously building on self potential

A successful person seeks increased potential for himself to ensure that he or she remains relevant. This is not necessarily achieved through education.

Self driven

A successful person creates his own initiative(s) rather than wait to ride on the initiatives made by others. They are self driven.

Frequent practice

A successful person keeps practicing his trade to ensure that he remains relevant to himself and his trade.

Action

A successful person does not wish rather, against all possible challenges, a successful person implements any idea(s) that he or she might have.

Constant learning

A successful person makes mistakes like any other person, the difference is that he or she learns from those mistakes and seeks to improve on them.

Some of the best business stories in Kenya were not conceptualized by wizards and geniuses but by regular people. Case in point; Kuza Biashara Limited. A concept by an Indian native who had to travel miles across continents to spark the minds of Kenyans to action.

This is a learning point for all Kenyans, Success is not a situation; success is a state of mind!
