When Sriram Bharatam (chief mentor Kuza Biashara) first landed in Kenya he knew little about this country in terms of business.

As with other first-time visitors, he initially thought that Kenya is all about athletics and wildlife. But in a short time something interesting caught his attention – the aggressiveness and resilience of Kenyan entrepreneurs.

He however noticed that despite the availability of high quality infrastructure, there was still a gap in information sharing that needed to be filled. Without sealing this gap, it would be difficult for local entrepreneurs to exploit their full potential.

This prompted him to start Kuza Biashara, which is an organization that aims to bridge this gap. In 2012, he was interviewed by NTVs lead anchor Mr. Larry Madowo who took him to task to expound on the idea behind Kuza Biashara.

“If you have a business idea, keep it simple and stupid” this, according to the Kuza Biashara chief mentor and founder is the must-follow path for entrepreneurs who want to conquer the world. “It is the ability to spot opportunities where others don’t that brings all the difference” Mr Sriram adds.

From humble beginnings

The idea behind Kuza Biashara was born back in year 1999 when the company’s chief mentor and founder started a social welfare website (www.causeaneffect.org) that aimed to raise funds for cyclone victims in India. Through the power of internet marketing (keep in mind that access to internet was still poor then); he was able to mobilize the world to chip in to avert a looming health crisis. The Cause and Effect movement managed to raise in excess of $1million in just 45 days for which he won a Kauffman Award in 2004.
