As you know, Christmas is around the corner, and if past trends are anything to go by, then we can predict that this is going to be a “boom” season for most businesses. As an entrepreneur it is worth pondering upon ways to make the most of this moment. You can either think of stocking up your shop with a few more merchandises.Or you can even think of starting a business from scratch.

Whatever you do, just make sure this Xmas season does not catch you flat-footed. Here are some ideas on how to make money during a Kenyan Christmas as compiled by one of our guest bloggers.

1. Packaging Services

People are buying flowers, Christmas-themed items like clothes, watches and the like. Offering unique packaging of these items, especially with a touch of Christmas colors or themes will be an excellent idea. You can have custom-made packaging solutions, near malls, supermarkets, on the streets or elsewhere you deem fit offering this service.

Again, you can think outside the box, make your services a bit unique and target a range of classes (low-medium-high class shoppers) depending on what you offer or what these different classes of shoppers find alluring.

2. Seasonal Foods

If you are a kitchen guru, this is the time to prepare some season delicious meals and make money from them. This is the idea: Prepare something you know is very much needed out there as people go having fun in the parks and such places.

If you have time, make items like themed cakes, bread and juice among others. Add sweets, ‘peremendes’, sodas, or other such soft drinks in your trolley and you are good to go. Walk or stall your items at strategic corners. You will probably make more money than other seasons.

3. Decorations

Are you good at decorating just anything? Well, don’t keep that talent with you this season. If you like sewing or crafts in general, you can create or develop some Christmas themed items like ornaments, Santa Clauses, stockings, sweaters, or just anything else you can decorate.

Be sure that out of 10 passersby, at least two will pick an item from you if you choose a good location to sell your products. You can also decorate stores, shops and other business premises at a fee.

4. Christmas Cards

Many people give away cards to their friends, families and relatives during this season. In fact buying cards during Christmas season is expensive. How about create unique but awesome designs and sell at lower prices to a quick but readily available market?

5. Photography

Santa Clause is the favorite of many during Christmas season. Others would love to keep memories of every Christmas season by taking pictures and keeping them. If you are a photographer, there is no doubt you need to up your game during this season.

The most important thing here is your target market. Find them, satisfy them, and get more coming your way before the season ends.
