Highs and lows through the week

Untitled-186

Practice makes perfect

This week has been quite interesting, juggling between website content collection and writing articles for Kuzabiashara. I admit it has been a while since I wrote an article and I was a bit rusty on Monday but it is all coming back to me now. The hassle that I went through this week reminds me that practice makes perfect. Now I am set to take on some serious Kuza Biashara research, article writing and content collection without much struggle. Continue reading

Everything has a beginning

Untitled-189

Its Friday morning, the team and I are on our way to Donholm to interview Bernard Onyango Oduori, owner of Mareva Interior Decorators. There is a bit of traffic but we manage to get there in good time. There are soo many people, vehicles and businesses. Everyone is busy doing their own thing; the sun is out today which has been rare with the heavy rains in the past weeks. It’s a beautiful day. Wow! I couldn’t believe my eyes! The place looked like a home and not a shop. The beautiful seats filled the place. Coaches of every color, green, pink, blue, red were there. There was one seat that I couldn’t help looking at, a beautiful green sofa set. If I had cash with me right away men!! I wouldn’t have left the place without that seat. Continue reading

A day in the field

Untitled-191

Its one o’clock in the afternoon and we are on our way to korogocho for some SMEs interviews. Korogocho is a slum area and we are kind of worried of our equipment’s, but either way we proceed. We arrive at the designated place and we meet Vitalis, one of the SMEs and who also happened to give us a tour of the place. The team is not worried now, Vitalis is from Korogocho born and breed so he knows the area well and he is also well known so its safe being with him. Continue reading

I have to run to Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) and check the event out, am like oh dear(silently in my heart) I just come in I haven’t even finished an hour, anyway off I go. Its crazy back there, a lot of security check and when I go to the information desk they are like have you registered for the event online am like no, then am like is it possible for me to register now and they are like you have to talk to so and so and its quite a process and finally I get to register myself and the rest of the team and we are now looking forward to the big day. A time to bond and build

Untitled-195

As Friday morning dawned I looked forward to our quarterly huddle with eager anticipation. See I’m a territory manager and had a bunch of newbies. From personal experience I know that huddles are one of the most effective ways of integrating our new members. In addition it was an opportunity to meet up with others who due to geographical distance I hadn’t seen in a while. Another reason this huddle was so important is it would be a chance to interact on a more personal level with my team and share our common goal on a more basic level. Continue reading

+Two days of inspiration and bonding

Untitled-196

It was the first time I was to meet the whole kuzabiashara family, and so I was excited but equally nervous. The morning of Friday 24th On arrival, the place was a conference facility of sorts, with a large terrace view of the ever increasing highrise towers in the Westlands business district. More and more people started trickling in and soon it was a full house, with people congregating and catching up! In the kuzabiashara content division, we have our supervising boss known as Ms. Nicole. She is the office chatter-box if I may say so, and naturally the best ice breaker for such a workshop. She led us through a game where we were all to mingle and then cluster in groups of random numbers she would call out. This was so much fun and achieved its purpose of bringing out the smiles and making people familiar with the other, thumbs up to her. Continue reading

Valentines: expectations, disappointments and chocolate

Untitled-197

They call it, the month of Love.

Tuesday the 14th of February, year 2012 and am in the office glued to the computer. It’s Valentines Day and on my way to work florists were everywhere and most women were wearing something red. If it wasn’t an outfit, it was accessories, a handbag or even hair clips. Am wearing old school rubber shoes and a t-shirt… and not paying much attention to this day called Valentines Day. Continue reading
