70 Percent of Kuza Digital Trainees Shortlisted For Internships By Leading Companies

Nairobi, Kenya May 16 2017 — The Kuza Biashara, SITA Digital and Social Media training program came to an end on Thursday 11th of May 2017. This is after 45 days of comprehensive training covering various aspects of digital, social media and core skills.

70 percent of the ladies were shortlisted for internships in leading and upcoming companies. Another 10 stand to benefit from an off-shore internship opportunity that will involve travelling to India to acquire hands-on IT, Waste Management and Agri-business skills courtesy of ITC SITA. The remaining number opted to take up entrepreneurship.

Over 600 applications were received with 50 of the best being selected to take part in the program. The training which was undertaken at Kuza Biashara Innovation Centre in Nairobi brought together partners from Kuza Biashara, ITC SITA, Iridium Interactive and UKAID.

Immense Sacrifice

Acknowledging the immense sacrifice the ladies had paid in order to finish the training, Kuza Biashara Founder and Chief Mentor Sri Bharatam narrated how he started his career journey at Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 1995 where he used to volunteer doing manual work until he managed to secure himself a role in the global company in just six months.

He encouraged the ladies to humble themselves and go out of their way in order to build successful career paths for themselves.

Also in attendance was ITC SITA Nzuki Waita who reminded the graduates of the need to adopt core life skills in their lives. “The confidence you have gained under this program is what is going to open doors for you,” said Mr. Nzuki who added that he kickstarted his thriving 28-year career as an intern in a leading Japanese company.
