As an entrepreneur, it is important to be confident and buoyant. That is not always possible, though.
They say that introverts can’t be successful entrepreneurs. They also say that lack of confidence can crumple you. While the introvert part is absolutely wrong, I agree with the confidence part. Having said that, I would also like to make it clear that confidence doesn’t have to be inbuilt. It can be incorporated. In fact, it needs to be incorporated from time to time to make things work for you. Confidence is all about perspective – change how you think and you will be more confident!
Slouching is the Worst
You may be the most confident person in the world but if you slouch at any given time, the other person will think you are not confident at all. Sit straight at all times. Stand straight as well. You may not realize it but posture showcases body language and body language is just as important as words when it comes to communication.
It is Not Always About You
People who are too conscious about themselves are under the impression that the whole world is talking about them. That is rarely the case. Everyone today has too much on his or her mind and is way too self-absorbed to think about you and to start talking about you. Think of yourself – do you always think and talk about someone else? No, right? No one else does that either.
Over-thinking will lead you to believe that you have a plethora of flaws [most of which, in reality, don’t exist]. What you believe about yourself and what you keep repeating yourself has the ability to make or break you. Replace negativity with at least a flicker of optimism. If a task is very hard, tell yourself that you’ll try instead of telling yourself that it is impossible. Also, you are NOT ugly, NOT fat, and NOT slow.
Appreciate what you have.
Mistakes happen. Don’t be too harsh on yourself when you make a mistake. Confidence will come to you when you realize that no one can ever be perfect and that mistakes are a part of life. Accept your mistakes, learn to rectify them, and you will automatically feel more confident.
Don’t be Too Serious
Why so serious? Smile more often, please. Laugh. Make this a habit and stop taking yourself so seriously. If you don’t have a reason to smile and laugh, I’d advise you to find one. It could be anything from watching a comedy show to cheer up. Do it.
Confidence comes from within. You can only teach it to yourself. No one else can do that for you.
Being confident is important in every wake of the business world [and of life, of course]. Confidence comes from what you believe in and what you tell yourself. Don’t over-think and ruin your present. Don’t worry about what people think; mostly they don’t think or talk about you. Also, make an effort to improve your body language.
