The post of a CEO is a tough and lonely one. It includes numerous responsibilities and problems, most of which are tied up with trust issues. You need to be able to distinguish between trustworthy people and those who are here just to harm your business. All this can lead to emotional turmoil because you end up wasting a lot of time and have no time left for yourself and your loved ones.
However, things don’t have to be so bad. There are a few ways in which you can improve things:
Many people – you will be surprised how many – value the fact that they sleep less. These people are incredibly naïve or incredibly stupid for giving themselves credit for staying up. Sleep is an integral part of life and fighting it does not make you a hero. You need to rest properly to be able to function better.
Sleeping less is too mainstream, try sleeping well from now!
As a CEO I am sure you have to speak a lot but that doesn’t mean you ignore the other – and more important – aspect of communication: listening. Don’t just glare at your whiteboard and interact with it. Talk to other people, hold discussions, and listen. That will teach you patience and openness. Listening will also help you realize that others may have answers to problems that are troubling you.
Focus on Relationships
The people in your life are very important and you should by no means ignore them. Relationships are highly crucial. If you prioritize work, all your loved ones will move on. Ultimately you will find yourself alone when you need a shoulder. Even something that is seemingly petite to you can make a huge difference for your loved ones. Make it a point to spend uninterrupted time with your loved ones regularly.
I am not talking about a weekend break. I am talking about a proper break to calm yourself, rest yourself, and come back to your workplace completely refreshed. Your mental stability is important not just for your health but also for the welfare of your entire business. Working continuously will mess you up mentally and that is why you need regular breaks.
Lastly, take some time out for your health and exercise. Exercising will pump you up and get you going. It will keep you healthy and fit. Don’t make excuses, exercise every single day.
These tips will help you balance life and ultimately work better.
Mental wellness and emotional wellness are very important factors. You have to be stable to make it through the day especially if you are a CEO because that post comes with a plethora of responsibilities. Focus on yourself and your loved ones.
