Each employee in your workplace definitely has a set of commendable skills. You definitely conducted very strict interviews before hiring your employees. Smartness, punctuality, meticulousness, ability to multi-task, and other such traits are highly desirable but there is no denying that some employees come with pitfalls, too.

Most employers tend to ignore faults in their employees because they have some traits that are highly beneficial and helpful for the business but you should be very careful to weigh the good against the bad in each employee because if the latter overshadows the prior you and your company can be in deep trouble. If an employee who is smart is also rudely arrogant and bossy all the time she is not the right fit for the workplace. You may wonder why you should pay attention to the bad when there is good in the employee that actually benefits the company. There are many reasons behind this.

Other Good Employees will Leave

Employees who harass, dominate, boss, bully, gossip, and keep taking credit for others’ work will drive great employees into quitting. There have been many instances where great employees have handed in their resignation because of the corrosive behavior of other employees. Therefore, letting one employee with a poisonous attitude to stay in the company will make you lose another employee who may actually be the best in the office.


There are many employees who can’t keep quiet and you don’t seem to comprehend the concept of office confidentiality. They engage in spreading rumors and the setbacks the company is facing. They do so in order to win friends usually but whatever their reason may be it will harm your company significantly.

You Will Lose Out on Clients

Showing bad attitude towards colleagues is one thing and showing bad attitude to clients is at a whole new – worse – level. Employees with such attitude can’t change themselves according to the situation. They will behave just as badly with your clients and that will make you lose your clients. No one likes taking nonsense from anyone.

A Lot of Time Will be Wasted

Such employees cause disagreements and disputes, which will force the management to spend a lot of time trying to calm things down between the two parties in question. A disagreement every now and then is inevitable but such employees will fuel many more than the company can actually afford. Your manager will have to engage themselves in such petty issues and waste a lot of time that could otherwise have been spent on something very useful for the company.

Eliminate the snake before it poisons you.

Even though an employee has a few good traits, if those traits are accompanied by dangerous traits, you have to fire the employee FAST. Any delay will cost you your other great employees, your clients, your time, and the growth of the company.
