While some startups take a while to pick momentum, there are a few others that start growing pretty fast.
If your company is heading towards quick growth you should be careful about the company culture because that is the most vulnerable aspect of businesses. As a startup you surely were excellent and the company culture was positive to begin with. Once the growth escalates though, assuring the same positivity can actually be difficult.
Not money, not management, not growth. It is the company culture that you have to prioritize especially when you are growing so rapidly. When you always keep culture in the forefront you won’t have to ever worry about it. This may be tough at times but relentlessness right from the time you begin will help you keep the company culture positive.
Your core values should never change or be compromised. Your company runs on those values and is probably even recognized for them. Changing them or compromising on them is definitely not the way to go. You will see plenty of changes in your company as you grow rapidly, of course, but your core values must remain intact.
Be Careful While Hiring
Look beyond skills when you hire. Skills can only help your company so much. A skilled person who does not fit your company culture will do you no good. In fact, you can easily find a skilled person regardless of the job description but it will take you some time to find a person who fits your culture. The best fit will help you grow. A wrong fit will impede your growth.
Make no Room for Uncommitted People
Uncommitted people include those who constantly whine and those, who are total jerks. There is no place for such people in a workplace. They can poison your work culture at an alarmingly fast rate. If they are not committed, you can show them the door. You did not hire them to listen to them whine and crib about everything. Only those, who look at your mission as theirs and work with full commitment, should work for you.
When the company culture is positive, employees are happy. When employees are happy, business heads in the right direction.
As the leader you should ensure that the company culture remains untouched regardless of the heights your business reaches. Your core values should never be compromised or changed for something or someone else. Keep it positive.
