A bad employee will probably not do one task properly. A bad leader will destroy the entire business.
No business owner wants to keep up with incompetent employees who don’t work despite having all the resources at hand. But incompetent leaders are easily the worst. A bad employee might stymie the growth of the company but if you hire a bad CEO or a bad manager, the entire company will come tumbling down.
There are four main types of bosses that come under the category of incompetent leaders.
They are as follows:
If you bullies only lurked in the canteen or locker room in high school, think again. Bullies are everywhere and at every level. Managers who are bullies are easily the worst. They use others as pawns to do all the work for them and dominate them incessantly. More often than not they don’t even realize that they are being narcissistic and controlling.
Leaders are supposed to be organized. Sadly, there are leaders who are downright chaotic. They carry with them chaos and a lot of uncertainty. Such people simply can’t be leaders.
There are many bosses that come under this category. They have a way of ensuring that absolutely nothing stays with them. They are adept at playing the blame game and holding someone else responsible for shortcomings in performance. These leaders generally have employees who nod when they do and make excuses just like they do.
Some people are more knowledgeable than the others and there is no denying that. But that doesn’t mean that these leaders always speak and never let anyone put across their point. They think they are very special and that they can do no wrong.
If you have such managers working for you, you should fire them right away.
Incompetent leaders are far worse than incompetent employees because they have the potential of destroying the entire business. This is the reason why you should pay more attention to how the managers in your company are. If you find that they are bullies, chaotic, arrogant, and/or adept in blaming others for everything, you should cut them loose.
