Experts have always said that you should keep a track of where you are headed and how well you are doing. Sadly, many entrepreneurs stay away from the tracking process.
If you don’t know how well you are doing you won’t be able to manage your business well because you don’t know what’s working and what isn’t. However, many entrepreneurs are worried about what the statistics may say, which is why they prefer being in the dark and doing their job quietly.
There are three main pitfalls of doing so:
You Will Not Be Able To Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone
It is very important to push yourself beyond limits and not just confine yourself to the comfort zone. As an entrepreneur, you should always be ready to face tasks and challenges, which you simply won’t be able to do if you are in your comfort zone. Once you start tracking your progress and see where you are doing wrong you will be more willing to step out and take adequate measures.
You Will Not Know Whether You Are Walking Down The Right Path
You won’t know if you are doing well or doing something wrong. You won’t know whether your steps are actually good enough. In other words, you will have no room for improvement because you don’t know your current status. This is especially important when you are using a new method for the first time and have no idea whether it will work. If you don’t measure the results, you will remain ignorant and that very method may be the reason behind your failure.
You Will Not Be Able To Achieve Goals and/or Targets
When you track your growth you’ll know where you are going wrong and you’ll immediately improve. When you don’t track growth for the fear of having to face negative feedback you will not be on the right track and your goals will remain unattained. Yes, bad results can be saddening but they are momentary. Failures are permanent.
The best way to get past your fear and to start tracking your progress is to automate the entire process. You can ask someone else to check for you and save yourself of the fear. They will do it and come to you with the reports. Also, always remember that you can’t be perfect. Things will go wrong every now and then. Learn to forgive yourself when the results are bad.
Tracking and measuring is very important in the entrepreneurial world. Good or bad it is always advisable to be aware because you can work on things that go wrong. When you avoid feedback you won’t be able to know of your progress at all.
