Warning signs that your Website Needs a Makeover

Your website looks brilliant and shiny new when you get it designed at first. You start out proud of your web marketing presence and promise yourself to keep it trim and really terrific. Then you get caught up in the rush of business, and you become comfortable with the way your website looks. You forget your commitment to keep it up to date. Then comes a day when a well wisher tells you- “ I think your website needs a makeover- It seems a bit jaded”. This will rudely jolt you out of the comfortable feeling. So don’t get caught unawares. Here are some signs which will warn you when your website needs redoing.

Everything looks boxed in

Your website may be looking something out of the 80’s Everything tends to look boxed in, than anything else- Rectangular, sharp edged, sharp cornered and straight lines everywhere. Then have at look at today’s website models. Sleek, aesthetic, curved lines and pleasing colours. If your website looks boxy and old fashioned to the onlooker, which includes you too, then it’s time for a makeover. Your website is your most powerful web marketing tool. Give it due attention.

The Photos and Colors make you Cringe

Perhaps it was the ‘in thing’ some years ago, but now that photo on your website is only worth a good laugh. Whether it’s of you or your team or your office, things would have changed a lot now. If your photos are looking like aged album pieces, rather than the brilliant new service and product offering which you are dealing with today, then it’s time for a change. Also no one likes the dull brown or washed out green anymore. So if you haven’t refreshed your color palette for a few years. Old photos, dull colors are no good for web marketing. Go for the makeover.

Your SEO strategy is stuffy

You are not doing anything to pull up your site, except stuffing it with keywords, and are not worried about its readability, you need to rethink seriously. You are way off track, in web marketing. Your SEO strategy is sadly behind the mark and you must and should adopt the latest techniques. Its makeover time on all fronts for your website. Also if your web copy sounds like it has been dipped in starch and rolled in jargon, it definitely needs redoing.

The code you are using has gone rusty

It may have been the state-of-the-art code when you had your website designed. Well, that could have been quite a few years ago. It’s time to shift to the newer version if you want to stay apace with today. No code should be used and overused for more than five years. If yours in more than five years old, it needs a makeover for sure.

Your service offerings changed- Your website doesn’t say so

Over time, service offerings do change. And this should be reflected in your website too. This is the most essential step in your web marketing agenda. If your website is still telling people what you used to offer, and not what you are offering now, you have to immediately make the change and revamp to suit current activities.

Entrepreneurial Learning

You may have designed your website when you first started business. So today your business has grown but the website remains the same. Remember that it is your online marketing tool and your internet presence and reflects what you are to the whole world. If you haven’t done it yet…go for that website makeover.
