Don’t’ Use round numbers for Pricing
It may seem odd, technique of persuasion but research has shown that this is the one of the most effective ways of subliminal persuasion. When products are priced precisely for example, $ 19.95 they are more inclined to be sold rather than if the price was $ 20. Using precise numbers seemed to be a more persuasive technique than using round numbers. Real estate figures too showed that $ 494,600 sold better than flat $500, 000. The reasoning behind this is that when faced with a precise asking price, buyers were less likely to negotiate. This eliminates the bargaining and selling your product below the price its actually worth.
Wear a pleasant color- Preferably Pink
Colors have a great influence on how we think , how we feel and behave. Studies everywhere have shown that the color pink has a strong persuasive effect. Pink seems to have a calming effect and there is proof that door to door charity workers who wore pink actually witnessed their donations rise three fold. Pink is supposed to suppress anger and have a tranquilizing effect. So when pink is so persuasive, try is as a proven persuasion technique in your next negotiation.
Appeal to the scarcity principle
Strange as it may sound, but very true is the fact that loss language can actually be motivating. It has been found that eliminating the risk of losing something is most often more attractive than increasing the chance of winning something. This taps into the scarcity principle, and works on the reasoning that what is scarce is more desirable. We are generally averse to loss and don’t’ usually want to miss out on something. Also you may have noticed that when something is said to be a limited edition, it gets snapped up faster.
Never tire in Repeating Your Pitch
If you want the customer or the person in front of your to believe your message, you must repeat it at least two or three times. Skepticism and doubt is high among consumers these days and unless they understand and assured of your product’s qualities, they will not be persuaded to buy. Make it a point to repeat your message at varying intervals and if possible through different mediums. If you familiarize the message it will be accepted. Repeating your pitch is an infallible persuasion technique.
Use the Motivation Sequence
This involves capturing the listener’s attention right away and explaining how your product or service addresses their need. Also show them how you can satisfy that need. Take them through the process of positive visualization and make them feel it is a great idea. Let them also know the downsides of not taking action. Now call for action. In almost every case the result will be a sale or acceptance.
Understanding a few persuasion techniques and learning about some persuasion tools will help you communicate more effectively and bolster your chances of business success. The basic principle behind using any persuasion tools, must however be those of honesty and authenticity which are important pillars for earning customers’ rust. When you persuade, remember that trust rules.
