This is the problem of high employee turnover. The company seems to be unable to keep employees for long. Here are some pointers to determine what could be directly responsible for this.

The Management is Arrogant

Some managers, when they have reached the post of authority, feel that they can carry on as if they know everything and display this arrogance visibly. Maybe they do not know it but nobody likes to work with an arrogant person who seems to know it all. Employees need and look for appreciation of their work and if out of arrogance, the management fails to appreciate the work done, the business will suffer.

Uncivil Communication

It is rule number one, that communication in the workplace, whether it is spoken or written should always be civil. Abusing workers and being rude to them or talking down to them as though they are menials, will unsettle many employee, s and it is quite enough reason to make them quit their jobs. In the case of such managers, who do not know how to communicate well, they had better change before behavior drives away other employees too.

When company lies to customers

First of all it is unethical and unprofessional to lie to customers. Many employees feel very uncomfortable when they are asked to lie to customers and they would rather prefer not to work in a company that uses such tactics. Customers need to know facts before they make a decision, and it is the company’s duty to inform them. If you make employees lie to make the sales, they know that sooner or later the truth will come out, so they rather leave than lie.

Insincere management

Managers need to be such that they can always be looked up to as role models. If managers themselves do exactly the opposite of what they expect their employees to do, the employee will be disillusioned. Employees want to admire their management to be able to work hard for them. Managers need to maintain integrity and work ethics to retain staff. If not their credibility takes a beating and employees would not prefer to work with an unethical boss.

When employees are constantly threatened

If you want to manage your employees with fear, you won’t achieve anything. On the other hand they will start resenting you and your company. In the face of constant threats, not many employees will be able to survive on the job for very long. In an environment where threats continue to persist, the employee will quit as quickly as possible.

Dividing to rule

Some managers make a point of pitting employees against each other. They tell one person one thing and the other person the same thing with a different connotation and colour. Some employees feel less favoured and that the management is questioning their competence and prefer to leave instead of facing partiality and discrimination.

Entrepreneurial Learning

The work environment and the way the management deals with employees have a large impact on the staff. Business owners and managers should always bear in mind how they behave and what they do. They should avoid actions, threats, favouritism and arrogance that tends to unsettle employees. Civility and honesty is best for employee retention and business success.
