High level decision makers are on the high level for a reason. They are very difficult to reach. I am sure you want to reach them and make sales immediately but that is the last thing you should do, literally! Your first step is to establish a connection with the decision makers and then sell to them. This procedure is much easier and effective.

But before all this, you should know how to reach these high level decision makers in the first place! That is step number one and you can do it in different ways.

Some of them have been expounded as follows:

Turn into a Journalist

Does your company have a website or blog or podcast? If yes, it is time to turn into a journalist and ask for an interview. If you can contact them directly, you should do so. Otherwise you may contact the marketing department of the company and request a meeting. Fifteen minutes will do the trick for you. Don’t ask for more time than that. No one has too much time to spare. Ask no more than five questions.

Important: Meet in person. NOT over the phone or via email or through chat.

Ask for an Article

If you really don’t have it in you to interview the decision maker, you could contact him or her and ask for an article contribution for your blog or website or anything else for that matter. This is a great way to get in touch and then stay in touch.

Seek Advice

Surely you need advice in some areas of business or may be even a new market trend. Who better to ask than an expert in your field? Call the decision maker up and seek advice. Seeking advice is a good way of communicating.

You should research as much as possible and get a quote that will come handy later on. Use the documents and papers you possess along with the research results and speak to them in order to get a great quote.

When you intend on using the quote, contact him or her and ask for permission.

Ask for Help/Opinion

You could get in touch with the decision maker and ask his or her opinion on something. Of course, the something should be related to your business. For example, you could ask what the three practices one must follow in their opinion in order to be successful in business. Anything legit will do. Be smart about what you ask because you will get to learn a lot.

You will notice that all these tips will help you initiate conversation and hopefully continue it effectively. Not even once should it seem like you want to make sales. Not once should your enterprise seem like manipulation. You should proceed with the aim to converse and nothing else! Don’t ever waste their time. Contact only after the required preparation. Finally, ask whether you could contact them later on too.

Entrepreneurial Learning

Every business has its eyes on the leading companies and the decision makers of these companies. However, making sales to them is not easy. You should start off slow and learn how to reach them first. Then you should converse to establish a healthy relationship. Only after that should you think about making any sales at all.
