Decision Making: How to Make Better Decisions

A lot of research has apparently been conducted around decision-making. The research showed that decisions are not consistent. The quality of decisions depends on a number of factors, according to the research. You will be baffled to know that these factors are external! This is the reason why no matter how meticulous we try to be our decisions vary. Sometimes our decisions are extremely wise and right on target. Other times, our decisions are miserably poor.

What influences our decisions like that? What can we do to overcome that and ensure that we make wise decisions at all times? First, you understand the main causes. Second, you understand what you should do.

The Causes

The main cause of the changes in decision-making is energy.

Energy: Apparently, when you are energetic you make better decisions. Your brain is full of resources and even the smallest decisions made by you are well thought out and wise.

Lack of energy: When you are tired, like at the end of the day, your body does not have enough energy to think in detail. That is the reason why your brain resorts to simplifying things. Thus, during this time you don’t make proper decisions. You try taking the easiest way out inadvertently.

The Cures

Now that you know why you are at the top sometimes and why you hit rock bottom at other times, it is time to ensure that you eliminate the bad decisions and try making better decisions no matter what hour it may be.

Breakfast: Breakfast is THE most important meal of the day. Under no circumstances should you miss your breakfast. Your body starves for hours at a stretch when you are asleep. You need to replenish all your sources every morning. When you eat a healthy breakfast, you will be energetic right from the word go.

Start early: If you have any important decisions to make, make them when you are fresh and charged. All the important decisions should be taken care of early in the day. Don’t procrastinate it because you will end up using your energy for other things. When you come back to making decisions, your brain will go the simple way!

Take rest when exhausted: Many people think that working through the day or powering through is a very good thing. You may not realize how tired you are but your brain definitely can’t work straight without rest. This is why it is important to be aware of your own fatigue. When you are tired, acknowledge it and take a power break. Eat a few snacks such as nuts to keep you charged.

Take a break to energize. I am stressing so much about breaks because it is very important.

Follow these steps and you will be more focused, productive, and wiser when making decisions.

Entrepreneurial Learning

Decision-making is all in the mind and you should be very careful to keep your mind energized. Only when you are energetic will you be able to make proper decisions. The decisions you make will determine the growth of your business in one way or the other. So, it is important to be very careful.
