It is very common knowledge that failure is a part and parcel of life. We are humans and it is human to err but there are some things that can be avoided. If we have the attitude that failure is inevitable and we can’t do anything about it, we will eventually fail in all our endeavors. Instead, we should think about ways to improve our perspective and thinking so that we avoid failure successfully.
If you have set a goal, you should be able to achieve it. There are no two ways about it. If you have failed or sense a failure, there is something that you did wrong. Hard work never fails but if you work hard in the wrong direction, you will fail. That is a little too obvious.
What should you do then? You should overcome a few barriers that you actually built in your own way! Here they are:
There are two different types of fear actually. Some people – actually, a lot of people – fear failure while some fear success.
Fear of failure actually cripples you. You don’t have the guts to take risks. If you don’t take risks, you won’t be able to move forward. Some people are so afraid that they even keep away from making important calls! How to overcome this? Failure is temporary. It will just help you learn and move on. Look at failure as a lesson and move forward to take risks.
Fear of success is worse. Some people overthink everything. That causes them too much sadness. Things like, “What if I do make money but that doesn’t bring me happiness?” “What if I lose my money?” can debilitate you significantly. How to fix it? Be grateful! Gratitude will make you happy and that will eliminate such thoughts. There is no room for such thoughts actually. Don’t think about them and you will be happier and focused.
The most common mistake or barrier is the goal itself. When people assign goals, they think about money, a particular stage of success, a house, a car, or something like that. These goals are actually uninspiring to many. While for some these goals work as driving forces, for many these goals are not motivating at all. They don’t make you want to jump and conquer.
What should you do then? You should think about the aftermath of the goal. Imagine how you will feel when you accomplish your goal. Think about the delight, the happiness, and the luxury you will live in. THAT will motivate you.
You have to be realistic. You can’t overestimate yourself and think you can do everything overnight. That is simply NOT possible. Setting too many goals, setting a shorter timeframe, and so on. The fix here is to simply not be too ambitious. You know your capabilities. Plan accordingly.
Now that you know why people tend to fail, avoid failing because of these petty reasons yourself.
Failure may be inevitable at times but avoiding failure is possible more often than not. People sometimes fail because of stupid reasons. You can avoid that by being smart and being realistic. That will help you not just professionally but also personally.
