Want to get noticed in a group or during a meeting? Say the right things at the right time then! Of course this is easier said than done. More often than not, people don’t know what they should be saying and sometimes, they say the right things at the wrong time. That is worse than saying the wrong thing. Sure this will get you noticed too but we don’t think you really want to be noticed for something negative!
Here are some phrases that you may use wisely in order to draw all the right attention towards you. Use them appropriately during group discussions and meetings, and you will definitely be able to establish your presence.
“I don’t think I understand what you just said.”
If you think saying something like will make you seem like a school kid or worse, a stupid kid, you are wrong. When the time comes, you should be curious. When you don’t understand something, you should ask.
If you are open about things that you don’t comprehend, you will come across as genuine. Don’t ever be afraid that people will laugh at you. For all we know, others have the same doubt but are too chicken to come forward and admit it.
“I don’t think there’s anything more to add to that.”
There are people who want to have a say in every little thing there is. There are people who will interrupt to put in their thoughts; they will talk regardless of whether they have substantial to say.
You should NOT be one of those people. Such people draw attention for sure but for all the wrong reasons. Know why? Because this is a trait of those who are scared. They want to blend in and they try too hard.
You, on the other hand, should be confident and when you have nothing to say or add, don’t say or add anything. As simple as that!
“I think we should” or “I recommend”
There are risks everywhere. Keep that in mind at all times. If you don’t take risks, you will get nowhere.
This does not mean you start giving opinions about everything every time. It means that you should not be afraid of giving suggestions and recommendations. If you think you have a substantial idea in a project that you are involved in, say it clearly. Getting worried that you might be wrong is NOT the mark of a good leader.
Don’t ever hesitate when you have something important to contribute during a group discussion. Once you get noticed positively, you will attract more people to your business and that is how you will grow. This is all about making your business successful!
Saying the right things can actually change the way people look at you. As the leader, you should lead from the front and come up with insightful suggestions as and when necessary. When you have nothing to say, there is no need to say anything. Don’t blabber just because you think you have to contribute.
