Those in business, especially the leaders and executives, should be totally self-aware. They should know of their strengths and flaws at the same time. There are many people who house a negative, vulnerable, and scared side of them deep within and refuse to let it surface. Such an attitude could actually lead to your downfall. You should accept all sides of your personality if you want to do well. It is extremely important.

Most people, in order to hide their weaker and scared side, follow numerous different paths. In other words, they are ready to do anything it takes to NOT confront that side. What will be the result of this? Downfall of your business.

Here are a few such paths that are commonly taken. Hopefully you will understand if you belong to any of these categories and then improve yourself for the better.


Are you a bully? Do you get really angry and aggressive even for seemingly small things? If yes, you are a threatened soul. You are scared, and in order to hide that you show an angry side.


Do the smallest things tick you off? Do you have the need to control everyone around you and pick on even the littlest things? Then you have something huge inside you that is troubling you. You are not giving it the required attention. If you continue being so bossy, controlling, and dominating, you will spell doom for your business. Address the thing that is bugging you first.

Getting too Defensive

Everything can’t be in your favor. You are human and you will make mistakes. If you have a hard time dealing with the fact that you can make mistakes, if you really can’t take people pointing out your mistakes, and if you jump to your own defense aggressively, you are definitely insecure about yourself. You are hiding that insecurity through defense.

Making Excuses

Making excuses means avoiding. Making excuses means trying your best to steer clear of negative attention. Instead of taking the blame for what you did or what you were a part of, you will play the blame game. Making excuses is the worst thing you could do as the leader. Try understanding your problem on the inside and come to peace with the fact that everyone makes mistakes. You should accept them and rectify them.

Being Overly Confident

This is another way of hiding your vulnerability. You try portraying yourself as confident and grandiose so that your scared side does not surface. If you don’t become self-aware and help yourself, such fake confidence will hurt your business very much.
Avoid treading these paths because they are dangerous. Instead, try being self-aware and address your weakness so that you work better and start facing problems positively.

Entrepreneurial Learning

For a business to succeed, the leader has to be self-aware. The leader must know his strengths and weakness, and he should know how to handle his vulnerability. If you take paths to hide your weakness, you will not be able to do well in business at all.
