Those who fail to prove themselves have to either pivot or drop out of the program. The regions that stand to benefit from the fund are Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan and Kenya.
One can apply now but the first intake of cohorts will be during August/September.
35% of the fund comes from local investors one of whom is Karanja Macharia of Mobile Planet. Other investors include Russel Simmons –Yelp co-founder, Timothy C. Draper – founder of global venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Dave McClure – 500 startups, Roger Dickey – angel investor and Dali Kilani – Zynga
