In a successful business results are everything, the owner becomes great in business based on his /her actions. Here only words are important.To be great in business, you your company and your employees have to accomplish five functions that will help you. If these functions are not followed by you, your business will fall short at the end no matter how hard you try.

Develop every employee
If achieving, hitting the targets and accomplishing real goals your leadership should be illogical. No amount of goals and targets will pay off, if you don’t have great employees in your business. As the boss your job is to help employees in achieving more.
Leadership management involves the mentoring, training and opportunities they need and deserve. In the process you listen, guide, and develop loyalty and commitment. Reviewing results and tracking performance is transformed from enforcement into personal progress and improvement both for the employee and for business. It is your primary responsibility as a boss to help employees to develop. For one to have a long term result take some time to develop the skills of your employees.
Take care of problems immediately
The team morale is killed quickly if the following issues are not addressed; Interpersonal squabbles, performance issues, negative impact employee motivation, enthusiasm and individual work ethic. No matter how small the problem is, it will never go away. It always grow into bigger problem and when you ignore an issue, employees immediately lose respect for you. Without respect there is no way the job will be done.
Rescue a struggling employee
At times you may face leadership challenges as well. In every team there is an employee who has fallen out of grace: blew up in a meeting, or makes slow progress. A struggling employee will be seen by his peers, and by you as a weak link as time goes. When that happens it’s almost impossible for the struggling employee to turn a corner on his own.
The team disapproval is just too heavy for one person to move. Before you remove a weak link from the chain, you should put your full effort into trying to rehabilitate that person instead. Step in and address the situation, but do so in a positive way. Find ways you can get your employee to be where you need him to be. Be reassuring, and most of all tell him you’ll be there every step of the way. Don’t relax your standards. Just step up the mentoring and coaching you provide. When you grant sometimes it does not work, so see the effort as its own reward.
Serve others, never yourself
Never say or do anything that will put you in the spotlight, however briefly. Never congratulate employees and digress for a few moments to discuss what you did.
When employees excel you excel. When your team succeeds you succeed. You are doing your job the way a great manager should. Everyone will know how important you are by acting like you are less important than your employees.
As a business owner your employees admire what you have accomplished. Someday they may want to reach your level. Most of them respect you for your hard work and achievements. Sometimes an employee will just want to talk or to spend a little time with you.
When that happens you can blow that person off, or you can see the moment for its true importance: A chance to inspire, motivate, reassure, or give someone hope for greater things in their life.
Being a good leader is a tough task, but it can be handled easily if you put into right use the golden leadership principles. The characteristics of leadership are to – develop every employee, rescue a struggling employee, solve problems immediately, help others and stay humble. Develop ethical leadership strategies. Never leave your employees helpless, solve their problems, communicate with them, etc. Help the slow learners, give them extra care and importance and never be harsh to them. This will help you be a good leader.
