he Kenya Revenue Authority
will conduct a series of seminars across the country to sensitise SMEs on tax obligations & to avail services offered by it through its online portal KRA Online
. Addressing a one-day conference organised by Mocality recently, D.M. Gichohi said KRA
recognised its role as a facilitator too & hence was organising these seminars. Aimed mostly at SMEs, these meets will cover e-registration, e-filing of VAT
& IT returns. The schedule of the seminars can be downloaded from here
. The KRA
website also has important dates for SMEs to pay their taxes. Forms for paying taxes are also available online. For example Pay As You Earn
(PAYE) forms are available for download from here.
KRA Online is a portal where SMEs can file returns online & avail a number of other services. Income tax forms, VAT forms & regulations pertaining to taxes can be found online. There’s also a Taxpayer Software for both Windows & Linux platforms using which SMEs can determine the amount of tax they need to pay. The online portal also comes with guides to use the software.
In order to increase transparency in its functioning, KRA has also enabled one to report corruption anonymously. Called the Ethics & Anti-corruption Commission (EACC), this website enables citizens to file complaints on corruption, he added.
